Throw the Loud Lout with Clout Out of Office

Henry Waxman:

Think Santa Monica, West LA politics, and the vision of the former Oversight and Energy Chairman comes to mind.

This man has been in power since 1975, elected with the opposition class of 1974, a sharp rebuke to the Watergate scandal which tarnished the Republican brand for three more years.

What started as an opposition run has turned into an established stalwart of the reactionary liberalism of the Carter era.

Big Government can no longer pay its Big Bills. Henry Waxman has been in office for 38 years, when the Democrats were in power, and when they were out of power. Yet the deficits keep getting bigger, the national debt gets larger, yet he refused to do one thing to stop the spending:

"I love to legislate" is Waxman's mantra, so it is no surprise that this man has no problem with government getting bigger.

Yet for all his talk about loving to legislate, this man has done nothing to modify the Clean Water Act, which twice in the past six years has been limited by the Supreme Court, still waiting for Congress to modify and clarify whatever is wrong or missing in the bill.

Henry Waxman, the Rottweiler of the House of Representatives, has at best a mixed record for all the oversight hearings.

In 1994, Waxman went after the Seven Tobacco CEOs -- "The Seven Dwarves" -- and to what purpose? Now, the Big Tobacco cannot market to minors, granted, but beyond dragging them and then humiliating these seven corporate executives before the camera and setting them up to lie under oath did  more for trial lawyers than for consumers and health care advocates.

The common argument from independents and undecided voters in the 33d Congressional District hinges on one issue:

Do I want a Congressman with seniority and experience, or do I want a new Congressman with fresh ideas?
After 38 years in office, Henry Waxman has nothing but

"I don't know!"

"I'm sorry!"

"We're not broke!"

All of these statements were in response to the looming problems hitting this country, including the red ink tsunami of creditors who will refuse to keep buying up this country's debt, if no one in Washington does anything about it.

Waxman has had thirty-eight years to advance real health care reform. He dumped on this country "ObamaCare", a poorly written, terribly planned, and overwhelming bad piece of legislation, which is now eating away at the already crippled health insurance industry.

Bill Bloomfield has established businesses in the state of California. He has led efforts to end lawsuit abuse, move into gang prevention, and provide healthcare to third-world countries. Bill Bloomfield spear-headed the initiatives for the Open Primary and Citizens Redistricting, as opposed to letting politicians draw the lines which protect incumbents and maintain the extreme, uncompromising hegemony of today's politics. He has also pushed forward Prop 32, which would protect employee's paychecks from the unaccountable union power-grab which takes the employee's money and spends the money on candidates who bolster the wealth and health of union bosses, but do nothing for the state, the worker, or the taxpayer.

Bill Bloomfield is an experienced citizen, while Waxman is merely an experienced politician. The 33rd Congressional District deserves really service, not self-serving politicians.

Vote for Bill Bloomfield. . .

As for Henry Waxman. . .

Throw the Loud Lout with "Clout" Out of Office.

Letter to the Acorn - September

To the voters of Calabasas, Agoura Hills, and Woodland Hills:

My name is Arthur Christopher Schaper, a resident of Torrance, CA, and a fellow constituent in the 33rd Congressional District.

Two months ago, I encouraged you to end the 38-year tenure of Henry Waxman, a politician who has become a fixture in Washington. Having spoken with independents and Democrats, as well as Republicans throughout the district, I can attest that a growing number of voters are tired of Waxman and want to throw him out.

In the Congressman’s recent advertisement, an unprecedented move for an 18-term  Congressman who has coasted into office with at least 60% of the vote, the announcer claims:

“For Henry Waxman’s record, look for the things you don’t see.”

Do not look for affordable health care – because Waxman’s signature legislation “ObamaCare” has increased premiums and diminished access. Do not look for debt or deficit reduction or much-needed deregulation for small businesses, initiatives which Waxman has stymied or ignored. Do not look for tax relief, as Congressman Waxman has voted against middle-class and working class tax cuts over the past ten years. Do not look for bipartisanship, either, as Waxman’s major legislative achievements have either passed on the slimmest of margins or have faced rigorous challenges in court, with little to show for the intended effects.

Some voters are wondering whether to support Waxman for his seniority or invest in a fresh candidate with new ideas. I submit that in the past five years, Waxman’s seniority has engendered loan guarantees to nineteen failed green tech companies, wasted oversight hearings on steroid use, and a partisan agenda of attacking billionaires and businesses with scant evidence and slight insight. Waxman’s brand has gone bland, like old dog food.

To every voter tired of political elites who stay in power just to legislate our lives, our money, and our freedom away, now is the time to send a message to Congressman Waxman and other entrenched politicians:  incumbency without encompassing respect for individual liberty and private enterprise is a great encumbrance. Let this be Waxman’s last term: a losing one.

Obama Helps Waxman - A Snapshot

President Barack Obama has endorsed Congressman Henry Waxman, once the politician who never had to run a campaign and even went out of his way to boost sagging liberal candidates in the Westside.
This move to shore up Waxman is a sure sign that the LA-based Congressman is in trouble. The sudden support from the uncommanding Commander in Chief should surprise many who thought that the 33rd Congressional District would be an easy win Waxman.

Waxman actually needed a boost from the junior Illinois senator turned change Chief executive Barack Obama. Like a kindergartener sticking up for the beaten-down older brother, this endorsement is embarrassing, not ennobling. The former leader of the Waxman-Berman machine now needs help from the President of the United States, himself another politician who cannot run on his record, who is losing independents and disappointing Democrats.
Rather than emboldening embattled incumbents, Obama’s endorsements embitter, embalm and ultimately entomb them in the same failed policies of unpopular regressive-progressivism, which is bankrupting this country while failing to engage a still lagging economic recovery.
From the Scott Brown upset in Massachusetts and the New Jersey rising of New Jersey Republican Chris Christie over Jon Corzine, Obama’s endorsements do plenty of good -- for independent and fiscal conservatives in Democratic strongholds.
Waxman’s 38 years of tax, spend, regulate, frustrate are coming to an end in the Santa Monica Bay. Obama's endorsement is the death throws for the former head of the Waxman-Berman machine, and not a moment too soon.

Obama Endorses Waxman -- Helps Dig Embattled Incumbent's Grave

The Manhattan Beach Patch has reported that President Obama has just endorsed Congressman Henry Waxman.

If there is any sure sign that the LA-based Congressman is in trouble, the fact that he needs a little help from the Commander in Chief for support should surprise many who thought that the 33rd Congressional District would  be an easy pick-up for Waxman.

I think that Mr. Waxman ought to give back the endorsement, and tell Obama to stay far away.

Let's consider Obama's track record with endorsing Democratic candidates:

1. Massachusetts special election to replace the deceased Ted Kennedy. Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley (D) vs. Scott Brown (R) -- Brown one by five points in a 3-to-1 Democratic Massachusetts

2. New Jersey Governor John Corzine vs. federal prosecutor Chris Christie -- Christie won by four points in 2-to-1 Democratic New Jersey

3. For the Virginia Governor Seat -- Creigh Deeds (D) vs. Bob McDonnell (R) -- McDonnell took back the VA governor's mansion by double-digits.

4. PA Republican-turned-Democrat Arlen Specter vs. Pat Toomey -- Specter lost the Democratic primary -- a humiliating defeat.

5. Disgraced Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-NY) resigned his seat. Republican Bob Turner took the seat by ten points in a 3-to-1 Democratic district, despite Obama's endorsement of David Weprin. The New York Post deemed the Republican upset:  a "slap in the face to the Prez".

Obama-WaxmanCare is a curse that keeps on cursing Waxman, a law which has more loop-holes than a piece of Swiss cheese .

Obama's endorsements are the kiss of death for any incumbent.

For over 38 years, Waxman coasted into reelection without any help, without any campaigning, without even having to get impute from voters.

Now that he faces an uphill battle for reelection in a new district, Waxman needs a little from a junior senator transform,ed into hope and change Chief executive Barack Obama. Seems like the kindergartener is sticking up for the beaten-down older brother at this point. Could any endorsement be more depressing and disheartening. The former leader of the Waxman-Berman machine now needs help from the president of the United States, himself an embattled incumbent who is losing independents and disappointed Democrats.

Waxman should say "Keep your Hope and Change, Mr. President" if he plans on staying in office for another term.

Waxman is melting. Bloomfield for the 33rd!

AES and Henry Waxman: Another Telling Comparison

Two issues are prominent in the minds of Beach City residents. First of all, the divisive debate over whether to maintain, modify, or close down the AES Power Plant in Redondo has motivated residents to stake an opinion or a claim on the best interests of the future of the city. The other electoral matter, whether or city and our future will be best served by electing LA Congressman Henry Waxman to another term in office.

Congressman Henry Waxman has commented that the would like the AES to be shut down. On a related note, he is appealing to the same Beach Cities residents to elect him. For the first time in over thirty years, Congressman Henry Waxman is actively campaigning to keep his seat in Congress.

The power plant and the powerhouse Congressman have many things in common.

They are both very powerful fixtures in their respective environments. The power plant in Redondo Beach is one of 132 plants which AES owns throughout the world. This plant provides energy for homes and businesses in the surrounding region. Like the LA-based Congressman, the power plant has a long and storied history, changing owners yet never closing down. Waxman has changed district representation, ever so slightly, over the last three decades, yet not once has he faced a serious challenge to his standing in Congress. He is a powerful machine politician who has helped energized local and national elections in the West LA area.

AES Power Plant in Redondo Beach
Both have been heavily involved in the growing conflict between going green as in expanding the environment and going green as in expanding the economy. The AES plant is in the crossroads between city activists who want a more appealing and welcoming waterfront, and the city leaders who want to improve their city without going to court over it. The desire for green energy and green living space can converge or diverge in this political issue.

Both take up a lot of space and blow a lot of hot air. Henry Waxman has spent a greater part of his tenure in Congress going after Big Tobacco or Steroid Use, with nothing to show for the poorly spent time and energy, besides witnessing Congressman Waxman make himself the center of attention in Washington politics. Like the smoke-stacks which block the ocean view along the Redondo Beach waterfront, it's time to take down the political smoke stack Henry Waxman, who if elected may block the best interests of individual liberty and private enterprise in the South Bay.

Thus, the most telling and compelling comparison between the AES Power Plant and Congressman Henry Waxman: Both are long-overdue for downsizing and closure. While the AES plant can implement innovation, taking up less space and providing more energy, Congressman Henry Waxman merely takes up space in Congress, pursuing inane and harmful legislation, like Cap and Trade and ObamaCare. While the AES operators are willing to work with the community to improve the well-being of the region, Congressman Waxman is a resolute partisan who has done nothing to pay down the national debt, cut the annual deficits, and

Henry Waxman: Pollutant Long Overdue
For Closure
Like many of the residents of Redondo Beach, Independent candidate Bill Bloomfield wants the AES plant to close, and he also wants to close down the 38-year tenure of Henry Waxman. Bloomfield's candidacy will provide solutions to the vexing problems which will only get worse, not better, without principled bipartisan compromise. Bloomfield is a resident of the Beach Cities. He is an independent who cares about our physical and our fiscal environment, unlike Congressman Waxman, whose policies and platform hurt the green on our lawns and the green in our pockets.

Unlike the political process currently in the works between the Redondo Beach City Council and the private owners of the Redondo Beach power plant, Henry Waxman has no record of compromise or bipartisanship, ramming unpopular legislation through Congress, which pass on the slimmest of margins without input or support from the opposition party or more moderate members of his own caucus.

In addition to NoPowerPlant.com, I would like to start another petition in Redondo Beach and throughout the Beach Cities:

NoMoreWaxman.com -- or better yet, please visit Waxman Watch -- waxmanwatch.blogspot.com

To the residents of the Beach Cities in the 33rd Congressional district, please join me in supporting a principled and orderly closure of the AES Power Plant and Congressman Henry Waxman.

Bloomfield in the Palisades Post

Go Bill Go!

This is the message that more people need to hear!
To the editors of the Palisades Post:
Thank you for the thoughtful and erudite piece that you wrote on native son and next Congressman Bill Bloomfield.

He has more than made the case that he is a real independent, a Congressman who will represent "We the People", not "They, the corporate donors, the union bosses, the special interests."

I want this man representing me in Washington, not washed-up Henry Waxman.

Waxman has been in office for too, too, too long.

38 years of choosing his district and his voters.

38 years of hollow and unnecessary oversight hearings.

38 years of environmental legislation which has hindered instead of helped our economic and atmospheric climate.

38 years of taxes and spending. Waxman has voted against every working-class and middle-class tax cut, while leading the charge on one of the largest tax increases in history -- the unaffordable Affordable Care, Act, which I ruefully call Obama-WaxmanCare.

38 years is enough.

Bill Bloomfield for the 33rd!

Easy Reader News: Waxman in Hermosa Beach

Hermosa Beach resident Julian Deveroux commented that Hermosa Beach is turning into “Little Santa Monica” because of the progressive bans on smoking and plastic bags, and the devolving deviant behavior beneath.
Sadly, I can think of another reason why “Little Santa Monica” might be an apt title for this wealthy Beach City: Santa Monica-based Congressman Henry Waxman, whose hegemony of tax-and-spend nanny-state liberalism is now infiltrating South of Dockweiler to the Beach Cities, which has now joined with part of Waxman’s former 30th district courtesy of the California Citizens Redistricting Commission.

The unsightly oversight chairman paid an undisclosed visit to Councilmember Michael Keegan’s Hermosa Beach home August 29. Why were the voters in the area not informed sooner? What is Waxman hiding?

I cannot think of a more unqualified candidate to represent the Beach Cities, including my home in West Torrance, than the same Congressman who bullied baseball players in 2009, yet had no standing knowledge of the standard steroid laws in this country when questioned by a constituent. He went after Tobacco executives in 1994, yet he did nothing during the Congressional Post Office scandal, which brought down House Ways and Means Committee chairman Dan Rostenkowski (D-Illinois). And what about the “Congressional check-kiting scandal” which broke at the same time, which brought down the entire Democratic majority! Where’s was the imperious oversight Chairman doing then?
In open committee, he has declared that he did not know what was in his own Cap and Trade legislation, he brazenly assumed that “We’re not broke”, even though  this nation is now facing a $16 trillion national debt, which his signature legislation “ObamaCare” will add to significantly.

Hermosa Beach Democratic Club President Diane Wallace claimed: “We need people from both parties who are willing to work with other. . .One of the things (Waxman) reflected on is how he has been so successful in Congress because he has a good working relationship with Republicans.” He shoved Cap and Trade, including a last-minute three hundred page, amendment, without input from Republicans. ObamaCare received no insight from Republicans. Both bills passed with opposition from Democrats as well as Republicans on the slimmest of majorities. This man even threatened to  throw one Republican out of committee because he demanded respect for normal order.
Bill Bloomfield has the real record of bipartisanship, working with Democrats to advance education and electoral reform.  Bloomfield has run his own businesses. Bloomfield has also worked with underprivileged youth. He opposes the partisanship which has forged nothing but gridlock and wasteful spending in Washington.

Waxman commented: “If there’s ever a chance that anybody’s going to try to close that air force base [in El Segundo], they’re going to have to do it over my dead body.”

After picking his district and voters for over thirty years, Waxman so readily assumes that he’s going to swing into another term in office.
Over my dead body!
